Joe Tobul

   Joe & his son Jim purchased this Chance-Vought F4U-4 Corsair in 1981 and began a 10 year restoration project. This storied aircraft has served two tours of duty with over 200 combat missions. Being flow in the above picture by Joe, the "Korean War Hero" was restored in Pittsburgh by Joe, Jim and several veteran volunteers, including some of the pilots who flew this very aircraft in combat.

   We mourn the loss of our friend Joe. During an airshow performance in his F4U-4 Corsair "Korean War Hero", Joe lost engine power. While attempting to make it back to the runway, Joe crashed. Anyone who has met Joe is familiar with his outgoing persona and warm heart. We'll miss him.
