The USAFM sits in Dayton, Ohio, nestled on a small part of Wright-Patterson AFB. The Museum, free to the public, has static displays of Air Force aircraft from throughout history. What most people do not get to see is their restoration division. Led by their chief Merrill Morris, the USAFM restoration staff have what could only be called Job-Security. "We have a backlog of projects that will last probably 35 years", says Morris. The project on the front burner right now is the restoration of a B-2 Stealth Bomber. With the celebrations of 2003 right around the corner, this 16 person crew is burning the midnight oil to get this bird ready for the museum's new wing.
